Introducing Ian Carl Hansen

We had our little boy on Tuesday, January 20th. He was born at 5:17 pm and weighed 6 lbs and was 18 inches long. I had a c-section so we couldn't come home for a few days to get everyone updated. Everything went well with the surgery. All the doctors and nurses in the operating room were nice and the surgery went very fast. As soon as the surgery was finished they took me back to the room where everyone was waiting so I didn't have to spend anytime in the recovery room. I didn't get to hold him for a little bit because his temperature was just a little low but as soon as they warmed him up they brought him to me. The first night was a little rough for me. For some reason my temperature was really low too, I think it was 91 or 92 degrees. I didn't feel very cold though. They had blankets piled on top of me and when I didn't warm up fast enough they put what was called the Bear Hug on me. It's a blanket that they hook up to a machine and it blows how air on you. They had a nurse checking my temperature every hour that night so I got little sleep. I also started getting sick and throwing up, which was no fun because I hadn't eaten since Monday night. By morning I was fine and warmed up again. I was stiff, sore, and hungry (they were only letting me have liquids) but I was happy!

Brenna loves her new baby brother. After he was born she got to see him through the nursery window. She was telling him hi and that his sister is here. She is always wanting to hold him and give him loves. When we have to change him and he cries she pats his head and tells him "It's ok, your sister's here." She was very happy when we finally got to come home from the hospital. When I walked in the door the first thing she asked was where her brother was. I told her we left him there and she didn't like that idea. She has been looking forward to being a big sister and being a big helper. We have had Nana and Aunt Tasha staying with us so Brenna has been getting very spoiled by them and hasn't felt very jealous yet. Let's hope it stays that way too.

As you can see he has lots of dark hair. I told everyone that he better come out with tons of hair because of all the heartburn I had. He is such a sweet little boy! He has been a good baby so far and has a very big appetite. Since he's so small he doesn't fit into any of his clothes but with as much as he eats he should grow into them really quick. We are very excited to have him here!! Now we'll see how the next few days go with getting settled in at home with Brenna and see how he sleeps at night now that there isn't a nurse coming to bug him and us every hour or 2. We love our new little guy!!!
